Pain
Pain is an unpleasant sensation ranging from mild discomfort to agonised distress, associated with real or potential tissue damage. Pain is a response to impulses from the peripheral nerves in damaged tissue, which pass to the spinal cord and messages the brain.
How the body processes pain:
- Injury occurs in the body
- Nerves pick up the injury and send the message to the brain
- Brain processes the message and alerts the body of pain
- Pain patterns include
- acute pain
- episodic pain
- chronic pain
